Installing and using the ambient sensor
Sur cette page
The ambient sensor measures the temperature and humidity in your building and uses them to calculate a heat stress index for your animals. It is mounted on the wall and sends a measurement every 30 minutes.
Installing the sensor:
To install the ambient sensor:
- Choose a location that is representative of the conditions in the building: not above a heat source and not in a direct draught.
- Fix the housing to the wall with two screws.
- Let the probe hang freely, out of reach of the animals.
One sensor per building
Conditions vary greatly from one building to another: a sensor placed in the cow shed gives no information about the calf house.
Measurements taken:
| Measurement | Details |
|---|---|
| Temperature and humidity | Measured continuously in the building |
| Heat stress index | Combination of the two values, converted into a stress level for your animals |
| Frequency | A new measurement every 30 minutes |
Viewing the measurements:
To view the sensor measurements:
- Open the Equipment tab, then Farms.
- Locate the sensor: its latest index and the corresponding stress level are displayed.
- Use the three dots on the right to rename the sensor or open its trend curve.
