Switching the Mozaë Vigivel sensor on and off
Sur cette page
The Vigivel sensor is switched on and off with the magnet supplied, or with any other magnet. The colour of the indicator light shows its status.
This article contains the following sections:
- The magnet area
- What the colours mean
- Switching on a sensor
- Checking that the sensor is working correctly
- Switching off a sensor
- Waking up a sensor in standby
- Switching on, leaving in standby or switching off according to the season
The magnet area:
The sensitive area is on the back of the sensor, on the label side. Hold the magnet for 5 to 10 seconds to change status, and for more than 10 seconds to reset the sensor.
What the colours mean:
When you pass the magnet over the sensor, the indicator light comes on in the colour corresponding to the sensor's current status.
| Indicator light colour | Sensor status |
|---|---|
| Red | Switched off |
| Blue | Searching for the Mozaë base station |
| Green | Connected, ready to be fitted |
| Yellow | In standby |
| Multicoloured flashing | Switching off |
Switching on a sensor:
To switch on a sensor that is switched off (red light):
- Hold the magnet in front of the sensitive area for about 5 seconds.
- When the light turns blue, remove the magnet: the sensor searches for the base station.
- Wait until the light turns green: the connection is established and the sensor is ready to be fitted.
If the light flashes red just after turning from blue to green, the sensor cannot communicate with the server.
Switch on the sensor near the base station
The first connection is established much more easily at short range. Once the light is green, you can take the sensor to the animal.
Checking that the sensor is working correctly:
A sensor that is working normally emits a brief green flash every 15 minutes: it has successfully transmitted its measurements. A red flash means that the message did not get through. A blue flash means that the sensor has received a message.
An isolated red flash is nothing to worry about. If it happens often, the sensor has poor reception from the base station.
If the light flashes red rapidly without stopping, the sensor has encountered an error. It resets automatically after 2 minutes.
Switching off a sensor:
To switch off a sensor:
- Pass the magnet five times quickly over the label side.
- Wait until the light flashes in several colours, then goes out.
Switching off is never automatic: it is always triggered by you. To check that a sensor is switched off, pass the magnet over it once: the light should come on red.
Switching off resets the alert level to 75
If you had set a different level, for example 65 for a heifer, set it again the next time you switch on the sensor.
Waking up a sensor in standby:
The sensor goes into standby on its own (yellow light) after 1 hour without any movement. This is normal: it preserves the battery. Shake it to wake it up: it turns green again.
Checking that a sensor is in standby
Leave it on the ground and place the magnet over it without moving it. If you pick it up, you wake it up and the light turns green again.
Switching on, leaving in standby or switching off according to the season:
| Time | What to do |
|---|---|
| Start of the calving season | Switch on the sensors. |
| During the season, between two animals | Leave the sensors in standby, stored in their box. Do not switch them off. |
| End of the calving season | Switch off the sensors. |
| Calving all year round | Switch off the sensors if no calving is expected for a month. Otherwise, leave them in standby. |
It is waking up that uses the battery
A sensor in standby uses almost nothing. Do not store it in a place where it would often be shaken and therefore woken up, such as a car or a tractor.
