My Vigivel sensor is no longer communicating
Sur cette page
If a Vigivel sensor has disappeared from the app's home screen, or has not sent anything for several hours, pass the magnet in front of its activation area. The colour of the indicator light tells you what is happening and what to do.
This article contains the following sections:
- Reading the sensor's indicator light
- Moving the sensor closer to the base station
- Resetting the sensor
- The indicator light stays red or does not come on
- The indicator light keeps flashing red
- The sensor has fallen off the animal
- Contacting support
Reading the sensor's indicator light:
Pass the magnet over the area on the back of the sensor, on the label side, and look at the colour that lights up.
| Indicator light colour | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Yellow | The sensor is in standby. | Shake it to wake it up. |
| Red | The sensor is switched off. | Hold the magnet in place to switch it back on. |
| Blue then green | The sensor is restarting and finding the base station again. | Nothing. |
| No reaction | The sensor does not respond to the magnet. | Follow the section “The indicator light stays red or does not come on”. |
Moving the sensor closer to the base station:
If the indicator light turns blue but never green, the sensor is searching for the base station without finding it.
To restore the connection:
- Check that the base station is plugged in and connected to the internet.
- Move the sensor closer to the base station.
- Pass the magnet over the activation area again: at short distance, the connection is established more easily.
Resetting the sensor:
If the sensor remains silent despite the previous checks, reset it.
To reset a Vigivel sensor:
- Stand near the base station.
- Hold the magnet on the activation area for more than 10 seconds.
- Wait for the sensor to restart and search for the base station again.
The indicator light stays red or does not come on:
Before concluding that the sensor is faulty, check three points:
- You are aiming at the area on the back of the sensor, on the label side.
- You are holding the magnet for 5 to 10 seconds, not just passing it quickly.
- The magnet works: try with another magnet.
If the indicator light stays red despite a reset, the battery is probably at the end of its life or the sensor is faulty. Contact us to arrange a replacement.
The indicator light keeps flashing red:
Rapid, continuous red flashing indicates an internal error. In most cases, the sensor corrects it on its own.
To let the sensor recover:
- Wait 2 minutes without doing anything.
- If the indicator light flashes in several colours, the sensor is restarting on its own: let it do so.
- If nothing happens after 2 minutes, reset the sensor near the base station by holding the magnet for more than 10 seconds.
If the red flashing returns regularly, even after a reset, the sensor has a hardware fault and must be replaced.
The sensor has fallen off the animal:
A sudden drop in activity in the app, while the animal is well, usually means that the sensor has come off. The sensor does not contain any location chip: the app cannot show where it is, so you need to look for it in the barn.
To prevent the sensor from falling off, tighten the tape firmly when fitting it and make at least two layers. Falls mainly occur when the sensor has been in place for more than five days or when the tape is too thin.
Contacting support:
If the sensor still does not communicate, contact your distributor or our team. For faster handling, have the following ready:
- the sensor number;
- the indicator light colour observed;
- what you have already tried;
- the approximate distance between the sensor and the base station.
