What is the Reproduction Management service?

Updated

The Reproduction Management service turns the heats detected and the events you enter into reproductive statuses. It tells you which animals to fit with a collar and which to watch, so that you can focus your interventions where they are useful.

This article contains the following sections:

  • The three fertility indicators
  • Statuses to watch
  • The insemination period
  • Other statuses

The three fertility indicators:

On the dashboard, three figures summarise the state of reproduction. Click one of them to open the list of animals concerned.

Indicator Animals concerned
To be fitted Non-pregnant animals in the insemination period, and heifers in the insemination period without a collar
Seen in heat without AI Animals in the insemination period that have had a heat in the last 24 days but have not been inseminated
Presumed pregnant Animals with the status “Inseminated” for more than 30 days

Statuses to watch:

Status Meaning What to do
Anoestrus in AI period Animals in the insemination period, with no heat for 24 days These are the animals most at risk of a disorder: have the reproductive tract and ovaries examined so as not to lose time.
Anoestrus outside AI period Animals outside the insemination period, with no heat for 24 days Their return to heat after calving is delayed: monitor them closely.
Heat during pregnancy Animals showing a heat even though their pregnancy diagnosis is positive —

The insemination period:

The insemination period starts:

  • for cows, at the end of the voluntary waiting period after calving;
  • for heifers, at the minimum insemination age.

These two values are set in Settings then Calculations.

Pregnancy diagnoses come from the events sent by your connected tools, or from those you enter in the animal's record.

Other statuses:

Status Meaning
Unknown Animal not fitted with a collar, or male
Calved Animal fitted with a collar with no heat, up to 30 days after calving. Simply wait.
Cycling outside AI period At least one heat detected less than 24 days ago, outside the insemination period. The next heat will be the right one.
Cycling in AI period At least one heat detected less than 24 days ago, in the insemination period. These animals are waiting to be inseminated.
Inseminated Last known event: an insemination, with no heat detected since
Confirmed pregnant Last known event: a positive pregnancy diagnosis, with no heat detected since
Diagnosed open Last known event: a negative pregnancy diagnosis, with no heat or event since
Dry Animal moved to the dry category. The drying-off period before calving is set in your farm settings.
