Checking the ear tag installation
Sur cette page
The network audit checks that the Ear Tag Base and the anchors are installed and positioned correctly to transmit ear tag data and locate the animals. Run it after installation and whenever the animals' positions seem inaccurate.
This article contains the following sections:
- Opening the network audit
- Reading the quality indicators
- Correcting geolocation anomalies
- Running an installation check
Opening the network audit:
The network audit is available as soon as your farm has an Ear Tag Base.
To open the network audit:
- Open Settings.
- Select Network audit.
No alert reports a network quality problem or a faulty anchor: these problems are only visible in the network audit.
Reading the quality indicators:
The devices table shows, for each base and each anchor, its serial number, name, type and status, followed by two coloured indicators: Radio quality and Reliability. The screen opens immediately and the values appear after a few moments.
| Indicator | Green | Red |
|---|---|---|
| Radio quality | 65% or more | Less than 65% |
| Reliability | 95% or more | Less than 95% |
When an indicator is red, a link to the help centre is displayed.
Correcting geolocation anomalies:
If the installation is correct, the message «The geolocation data is compliant» is displayed. Otherwise, a table lists the anomalies, from the most urgent to the least urgent. In these messages, the gateway refers to the Ear Tag Base.
| Message | Meaning | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| GPS coordinates not entered | The position of the base or of an anchor has not been saved. Without the position of the base, no other check is possible. | Save the position of the device. |
| Not enough anchors directly connected to the gateway | Fewer than 2 anchors are within 25 m of the Ear Tag Base. | Move some anchors closer to the base. |
| Anchor(s) too far from the gateway | An anchor is more than 25 m from the Ear Tag Base. | Move the anchor closer to the base. |
| Anchor too far from the other anchors | The anchor cannot be linked to the base by a chain of anchors spaced 25 m apart, the recommended distance. Beyond 50 m, the maximum distance, the anchor is much too far away. | Move the anchor closer to the neighbouring anchors. |
Each anomaly offers an action to correct the position of the device:
- Geolocate, on phone: saves the current position of the phone. Stand next to the device before using it.
- Layout, on computer: opens the device's layout so you can reposition it on the plan.
These actions require editing rights on the farm. After each correction, check the geolocation control again to verify the result.
Running an installation check:
The Installation check button temporarily switches the bases to close-range diagnostics, to obtain more recent measurements.
To run a check:
- Click Installation check.
- Confirm the launch.
- Wait for the check to finish: a window shows the progress and a sound plays at the end.
The check lasts a maximum of 30 minutes. The button remains inactive for 2 minutes after a check.
